After a national call for jazz artists to perform at Aberystwyth this summer, we had the privilege of being one of the four acts to be selected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This was a new initiative from the Aberystwyth International Music Festival\u00a0in partnership with Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama and Arts Council of Wales. A special collaboration to bring four jazz acts from across Wales to perform as part of Musicfest Aberystwyth 2022 and work to build an exciting new network for Welsh-based jazz performers as part of\u00a0Archwilwyr Jazz Explorers<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Archwilwyr Jazz Explorers<\/em>\u00a0is an innovative research and development project developed by\u00a0Cymru Jazz Wales<\/em>, a network of freelance jazz and creative musicians with partner organisations including T\u0177 Cerdd, music services and venues from across Wales, and funded by Arts Council of Wales\u2019s Connect and Flourish programme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The gig was at Rummers, a converted warehouse on the banks of the River Rheidol. Some changes to the stage set and improved monitoring gave us a platform to go even farther with our explorations and did we deliver. Another blow for the “I know what I like” brigade – people came, people stayed! this was barrier breaking new stuff, made up on the spur of the moment and it was loved. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We were due to finish at 11.00pm and right on cue we had a power cut leaving drums and sax to round of the evening (apparently acoustically – but who noticed). It pressed all the right buttons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A BIG shout out to Arts Council of Wales and MusicfestAberystwyth for providing us with such a positive platform! <\/p>\n\n\n\n
